 Washington Casinos & Gambling

Gambling in the State of Washington

Washington’s casinos exist in as many as ten regions throughout the state. Casinos can be found in the following areas of Washington State: the Cascade Mountains, the Central Cascades, the Southern Cascades, the Puget Sound region, the South Central region, and in the Olympia Peninsula. Additionally, casinos can be found in the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest territories of Washington State.

Washington’s casinos are scattered throughout the state and in seventy-three of the state’s towns and major cities. Many of the regions in Washington have established several gambling establishments within their territory; however the Puget Sound Region has more casinos in Washington’s major cities than any other region. At least seventeen casinos can be found in the Puget Sound region of Washington State.

Principally, casinos in the Puget Sound region are located in the following cities: Arlington, Belfair, Bremerton, Des Moines, Everett, Kent, Kingston, Lake Stevens, Oak Harbor, Olympia, Renton, Port Orchard, Seatac, Seattle, Silverdale, Suquamish, and Tacoma.

Southeast Washington ranks second when evaluated for the number of casinos that exist within a major city in the region: at least eleven casinos can be found within its territory and they are strewn throughout the cities of Centralia, Chehalis, Clarkston, Ellensburg, Kennewick, Moses Lake, Ocean Shores, Pasco, Pullman, Richland, and finally, Walla Walla. The Northeast and Northwest territories follow suit with five casinos within the major cities of Washington. Conversely, no casinos have been established in the South Cascades regions or in the San Juan Island area of Washington State. Finally, in all of Washington State, the gambling enthusiast can find over two-hundred-fifty gambling facilities that provide an array of entertainment!

Despite the fact that not all of Washington’s casinos have slot machines, those casinos that do possess gaming machines offer an assortment to choose from. Common slots consist of Double Diamonds, Red, White, & Blue, Lucky Lady, Texas Tea, Jackpot Party, Wheel of Fortune, Little Green Men, Monopoly, Magic Garden, Cleopatra, Double Wild Cherry, Copper Dropper, Bonus Wishes, Blast, Beyond the Reef, and finally, nickel, quarter, and dollar slots. The popularity of optional gaming machines is on the rise in the state of Washington. Thus, it is not uncommon to find Video Bingo, Video Lottery Terminals, or even Video Keno provided in one or more of the many casinos in Washington.

Typical table games found in Washington’s casinos include: 3 Card Poker, Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Craps, Keno, Let it Ride, Pai Gow Poker, Poker, Red Dog, Roulette, Spanish 21, Texas Hold’em, Race booking, Pitch Table Blackjack, Progressive Blackjack, and Mini- Baccarat. Alternatively, from time to time a casino may provide optional gaming tables like Pull Tabs, Billiards, Omaha, or Keno.

Most of Washington’s casinos are not open 24 hours, and the casinos hours tend to differ from one gambling establishment to the next. Equally, not all of Washington’s casinos provide gaming machines or card rooms: some casinos only offer gaming tables. This issue of how many gaming machines are provided or not provided seems to directly correspond to the size of the establishment. Many of the smaller casinos tend to offer fewer gaming options. Finally, Washington state law requires that casinos that offer card room entertainment are required to close them four out of twenty-four hours each day. Thus, the card rooms found in Washington’s casinos are only open twenty hours a day.

Some of the casinos are own by Native Americans and a number of the gambling establishments are handicapped accessible. A few casinos are located near beaches and other waterways. Hence, several of Washington’s casinos provide boat docking and fishing in addition to other forms of water entertainment. Further, many of the casinos in Washington State provide a sundry of supplementary services. Finally, the state of Washington permits online gambling and many resources are made available by Washington’s existing casino owners.

Supplementary services provided by Washington’s gambling establishments may vary, but can include any of the following services: arcade machines, ATM machines, ballrooms and dance floors, bowling, bus tours, check cashing, children’s entertainment, complimentary drinks, convention/meeting hall, currency exchange, free and valet parking, gift certificates, gift shops, health clubs, indoor parking facilities, karaoke, lounges, marinas, non-smoking atmospheres, opened and covered docking, recreational vehicle parking, smoke shops, spas, swimming pools, and television rooms. Tourist will have no problem finding eateries located at every establishment. Such eateries provide, at minimum, lunch and dinner entrees, while others provide breakfast. Snack bars, bar and grilles, lounges, and restaurants are also available on location. Similarly, because many of the casinos in Washington are located in or near major cities, if a tourist desires a service not provided by one of the gambling establishments, they will not have to travel a great distance to find suitable dining facilities. Tourist may have to seek nearby lodging when visiting Washington’s casinos, as many of the gambling establishments do not provide hotel accommodations: this is probably due to the size of some establishments, as some casinos are 6,500 square feet in size, while others might be as much as 70,000 square feet in area. Nonetheless, finding suitable room accommodations should not be a difficult endeavor for tourists as many of Washington’s casinos are located in or near the major cities of the state. The legislature of the state of Washington has put into practice a variety of laws in an effort to shelter the general public from crimes that are frequently associated with the practice of professional gambling. Furthermore, the legislature stresses the illegal nature of bookmaking, cheating, or any other form of dishonest gambling practices and enforces stern monetary penalties. In addition to the fines that can be imposed, illegal gambling practices can result in a term of imprisonment for people that violate the existing laws of the state. Further, no one under the age of eighteen is permitted to gamble in Washington’s casinos or to participate in online gambling provided by the state. Moreover, minors can not participate in any form of gambling within the state’s boundaries.
